Impvestor Goals
Stakers care primarily about their IMP balance. While price is important in valuing their IMP and determining the rate at which it grows, it is not the main goal. A smart staker cares only about the ability of the treasury and Impvestment committee to generate return on treasury assets. In turn this translates into wealth via treasury appreciation as well as subsequent price growth and multiple expansion.
Bonders care primarily about IMP price. When they bond IMP purchasing a bond, these users lock in a fixed price of IMP. Therefore, staking rewards are only helpful in calculating the opportunity cost or gain; bonders have their # of IMPs locked in over the linear vesting period without access to staking. ( 4 , 4 ) will be enabled at a later stage of ImpDAO to further enhance stakeholder returns.
The ideal scenario for a bonder is for the price to appreciate; in this case, the bonder benefits from their discount on IMP and the increase in price.
Bonders are still happy if the price remains flat; their profit is the discount from the bond. Like stakers, bonders profit from inactivity at or around the current price level as they either purchased IMP at a discount (bonders) or are accumulating staking rewards continuously.
Bonders only lose when the price falls below their discount on the purchased bond.
